Thaw
The way he says my name
Makes me smile
Makes my emotions inflame
The way he shows he care
Makes me have hope
That I can be repaired
The way he compliments my every flaw
Makes me want to dive right into his arms
And thaw
Thaw, the coldness around my heart
That no one has ever attained
It requires some kind of art
Some kind of persistence
It takes his good heart
This is my entry for Thursday Poets Rally Week 35

Hey Tootsie, Thanks for stopping by my blog.
You write so well. Ah, someone who compliments your every flaw; What a nice feeling it is. Reading it makes me want to go find that lady who can make me forget all my flaws when she jumps into my arms

There’s a lot being said here, and it’s a brave move to share poetry with other people. What I’d suggest is concentrating on really distilling what you’re saying and trying to work out why your experience of these feelings or emotions is unique to you- why, in effect, is your experience special or different? The goal in poetry should be to reveal something new about human experience. You might consider looking at this subject from the perspective of someone completely different from yourself- someone of the opposite sex, a different cultural background, a different species, even! It’s worth experimenting a little and finding something new and unique to tell other people. Good luck and happy writing!
